Odoo vs HubSpot vs Zoho CRM: Which Fits a Growing Business?

Three popular choices, three very different philosophies. Here is how Odoo, HubSpot and Zoho compare on features, cost and fit, and how to decide which one your business needs.

Illustration of three comparison cards of different heights, each with a checklist of features

Choosing a CRM feels like choosing software, but it is really choosing how your business will run for the next five years. Odoo, HubSpot and Zoho are three of the most common options we are asked about, and each one is built around a different idea of what a CRM should be.

Here is a practical comparison to help you pick the right one.

The one-line summary

  • HubSpot is a marketing and sales platform. Best when your growth comes from inbound marketing and you want a polished, easy experience.
  • Zoho CRM is an affordable, flexible CRM inside a huge suite of business apps. Best for cost-conscious teams that want lots of capability per dollar.
  • Odoo is a full business system (ERP) with a CRM built in. Best when sales, inventory, invoicing and operations need to live in one place.

HubSpot: marketing-led growth, polished experience

HubSpot is known for being easy to adopt. Its free CRM is genuinely useful for small teams, and its Marketing, Sales and Service Hubs add email marketing, landing pages, sequences, ticketing and reporting on top.

Strengths

  • Excellent usability, so teams actually use it
  • Strong marketing tools: forms, email, landing pages and attribution
  • A large app marketplace and plenty of learning material

Watch out for

  • Costs rise quickly as you add Hubs, paid seats and higher tiers, and onboarding fees apply to some plans
  • It does not handle inventory, purchasing, manufacturing or full accounting, so you will still need other systems

Zoho CRM: capability per dollar

Zoho CRM offers a free plan for very small teams and affordable paid tiers. It is highly customisable, and the Zoho One bundle gives access to dozens of connected apps for finance, HR, support and more.

Strengths

  • Low entry cost and good value as you grow
  • Deep customisation: fields, layouts, workflows and blueprints
  • A broad ecosystem if you want one vendor for many tools

Watch out for

  • The interface and settings can feel complex, so setup quality matters
  • Connecting many Zoho apps well still takes planning

Odoo: CRM as part of your whole operation

Odoo's CRM is clean and pipeline-focused, but its real advantage is what surrounds it. Quotes become sales orders, sales orders reserve stock, deliveries trigger invoices and payments reconcile against them, all in one database.

Odoo comes in two editions:

  • Odoo Community: free and open source. Includes CRM, Sales, Inventory, Purchase, Invoicing, Website and more. You host it yourself.
  • Odoo Enterprise: a per-user subscription that adds full accounting, Studio, Helpdesk, mobile apps and managed hosting options.

Strengths

  • One system from first contact to final payment, with no syncing between tools
  • Community edition removes licence fees entirely for many businesses
  • Modular: start with CRM and Sales, add Inventory or Accounting later

Watch out for

  • Marketing features are lighter than HubSpot's
  • Implementation needs a capable partner, especially for inventory and accounting
  • On Community, some features require extra modules or custom work

How they compare on cost

Rather than quote prices that change often, here is how the pricing models differ:

  • HubSpot charges by Hub, tier and seat. Great value at the free and starter levels, expensive at the professional levels.
  • Zoho charges per user, per month, with low entry prices and a discounted all-in-one bundle.
  • Odoo Enterprise charges per user, per month for all apps on your plan. Odoo Community has no licence cost, so your spending goes into implementation and hosting instead.

Always check each vendor's current pricing page, and compare the total cost over two or three years, including implementation and the other tools you would still need.

A simple way to decide

Ask yourself these four questions:

  1. Where does our growth come from? If it is content, campaigns and inbound leads, HubSpot shines.
  2. Do we manage stock, purchasing or production? If yes, Odoo will save you from stitching several systems together.
  3. How tight is the budget? Zoho and Odoo Community offer the most capability for the money.
  4. Who will run it? HubSpot needs the least technical help. Zoho and Odoo reward a well-planned setup.

A few common patterns we see:

  • Service business, marketing-heavy: HubSpot, connected to your website forms and booking tool.
  • Small team, tight budget, lots of workflows: Zoho CRM with automations.
  • Trading, retail, distribution or manufacturing: Odoo, often starting on Community.

You can combine them

It is not always one or the other. Some businesses run HubSpot for marketing and Odoo for operations, syncing won deals into Odoo as sales orders. With a good integration, each team works in the tool that suits it best. Read our guide on choosing an automation platform to see how these connections are usually built.

Frequently asked questions

Is Odoo CRM good enough on its own?

For most sales teams, yes. It covers pipelines, activities, quotations and reporting. Teams with advanced marketing needs often pair it with a dedicated marketing tool.

Is HubSpot's free CRM really free?

The core CRM is free with generous limits. Advanced automation, reporting and extra seats sit in paid tiers.

Which is cheapest for a small team?

Zoho's free and entry tiers and Odoo Community are usually the lowest-cost options. Remember to include setup and support in the comparison.

Can we migrate from one to another later?

Yes. Contacts, companies and deals can be migrated between all three. Clean data and a clear field mapping make the move much smoother.
